About the role
Test fintech payment applications and APIs using both Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) and Visa Cybersource. Practical experience testing both gateways in a professional fintech or payments environment is required.
Work with developers and senior QA engineers to validate checkout, payment processing, refunds, and reconciliation. Build clear test evidence and actionable defect reports that help protect customer funds and financial data accuracy.
What you'll do
- Execute manual and automated payment tests against MPGS and Visa Cybersource sandbox integrations
- Validate successful payments, declines, 3-D Secure challenges, tokenisation, captures, voids, and refunds
- Test duplicate submissions, timeouts, retries, gateway notifications, and transaction-status updates
- Use SQL and API checks to verify transaction amounts, currencies, ledger records, and reconciliation results
- Document reproducible payment defects with sanitised evidence and verify fixes across affected payment flows
- Maintain payment regression suites and use approved test credentials and synthetic card data
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of professional software testing experience, including fintech or payment-processing products
- Hands-on testing experience with both Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) and Visa Cybersource
- Practical experience testing payment APIs and checkout journeys, including declines and failure scenarios
- Understanding of authorisation, capture, refunds, 3-D Secure, tokenisation, and reconciliation
- Familiarity with an automation framework and basic SQL
- Awareness of PCI DSS, secure payment test data handling, and clear defect reporting
- Comfort collaborating with engineers and product teams
Nice to have
- Experience maintaining payment automation in CI
- Familiarity with settlement reports, chargeback workflows, or fraud scenarios
