About the role
Own quality strategy for fintech payment platforms integrating Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) and Visa Cybersource. Prior hands-on testing experience with both gateways is required, alongside substantial experience validating systems that process real financial transactions.
Lead risk-based testing across checkout, authentication, transaction processing, refunds, settlement, and reconciliation. Work with engineering, finance, risk, and operations teams to assess release readiness and prevent defects that cause financial loss or incorrect customer balances.
What you'll do
- Own payment test strategy, gateway sandbox coverage, integration acceptance criteria, and release risk assessments for MPGS and Visa Cybersource
- Automate checkout, 3-D Secure, tokenisation, authorisation, capture, void, refund, and transaction-status checks
- Test duplicate requests, delayed or repeated notifications, timeout recovery, retries, and concurrent transactions
- Validate financial accuracy across transaction records, ledger entries, settlement reports, reconciliation, and dispute workflows
- Lead payment performance and resilience testing, and verify sensitive payment data is not exposed in logs or test evidence
- Mentor QA engineers, investigate payment incidents, and communicate financial and operational release risks
What we're looking for
- 5+ years in software quality assurance, including substantial fintech or payments testing experience
- Hands-on integration and end-to-end testing experience with both Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) and Visa Cybersource
- Strong automation experience with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium
- Strong knowledge of card payment lifecycles, 3-D Secure, tokenisation, refunds, settlement, reconciliation, and chargebacks
- Experience testing payment APIs, validating financial data with SQL, and investigating distributed transaction failures
- Working knowledge of PCI DSS-aware testing, secure test data management, and payment security controls
- Experience owning test strategy and supporting other testers
Nice to have
- Payment load and resilience testing with k6 or JMeter
- Experience with acquiring-bank certification, fraud rules, or multi-currency payment testing
