About the role
You will lead a squad of 5–8 engineers delivering to one or two anchor clients. Your job is one third people (career growth, feedback, hiring), one third delivery (roadmap, planning, quality), and one third technical (code review, architecture, incident response).
You are not a Scrum Master — you are a hands-on engineering leader who still reads code, weighs in on RFCs, and steps in on Sev-1s. But you spend the majority of your time growing the engineers around you.
What you'll do
- Run the delivery cadence of your squad: roadmap, planning, retros, quality bar
- Hold weekly 1:1s that actually move people forward — feedback, growth, career
- Own hiring for the squad: sourcing, interview loops, closing candidates
- Partner with product and client stakeholders on scope, risk, and trade-offs
- Contribute to code review and architecture — especially at critical junctions
- Be first responder culturally: model calm, curiosity, and directness
What we're looking for
- 7+ years of engineering experience, at least 2 of them managing engineers
- Shipped in a modern stack (.NET/React, Node/React, or similar) at production scale
- Concrete examples of growing engineers into more senior roles
- Comfort with client-facing conversations and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent written and verbal English
Nice to have
- Experience managing distributed / hybrid teams
- Background scaling a team through a hyper-growth phase
- Fintech or regulated-industry experience
- Prior consultancy or agency experience
